Rye Heritage Pottery

From the James Dean Pottery in the nearby village of Peasmarsh, our gift shop stocks a good selection of exclusive pottery depicting the Barons Seal of Rye or Rye fishing boats as a memento of your time in Rye.

We stock a wide variety of maps and guidebooks for Rye, Romney Marsh and further afield to help you make the most of your time in the area including literary guides, walking guides, cycling guides and official handbooks for the longer distance paths such as the 1066 Country Walk and the Kent Coastal Path. We also stock Ordnance Survey maps and road maps.

Books

In addition, we also have a vast range of books of local information about Rye and the Romney Marsh, including nature guides, historical guides, ghosts and folklore guides and fiction by authors with a local connection such as the Captain Pugwash books by  John Ryan and Mapp and Lucia books by E F Benson.

Romney Marsh Ceramics

Our gift shop is the only outlet in Rye where you can order hand crafted plaques and plates from the renowned Romney Marsh Ceramics.

The company is run by Beverley Gray who was born in the historic town of Rye and she now lives with her family in the nearby village of Appledore.

Beverley was trained in the art of ceramic design by David Sharp, a hugely talented artist and potter. Beverley also spent many years at the famous Rye Pottery, hand painting pottery and tiles. All plaques and plates are individually painted by  hand. Choose from a standard or bespoke design.
