THE GHOSTS OF RYE ARE CALLING
Discover the Secrets of Rye After Dark.
Step into the shadows and uncover Rye’s haunted past in Rye After Dark; an unforgettable after‑hours experience that brings the town’s ghostly legends vividly to life through projection mapping, storytelling, and just a hint of Rye’s own witchcraft.
Inside the creaking old sail loft by the harbour, the Town Model awakens to reveal Rye’s ghostly past. Watch as ghostly monks drift through misty streets, spectral lights flicker across centuries‑old windows, and the echoes of Rye’s eerie history fill the room.
You’ll sense the salt on the air, the faint scent of smoke and candle wax, and perhaps jump once or twice as ancient tales of ghosts and witches stir to life around you.
Blending haunting storytelling, atmospheric sound, scents, and subtle special effects, Rye After Dark immerses you in vivid tales of restless spirits, mysterious rituals, and strange happenings whispered through the ages. Although you remain seated throughout, the ghosts may feel closer than you think… The old sail loft carries a legend of its own—its resident spirit, Mildred, is said to linger within its weathered walls by the water’s edge.
Rye After Dark is more than a show—it’s a journey through time and shadow, alive with whispers, chills, and echoes of Rye’s witch‑marked past. Perfect for ghost hunters, history lovers, and anyone intrigued by the dark and the unknown. Dare you join us when night falls?

“Absolutely brilliant! Rye After Dark was unlike anything I’ve seen before. The way the Town Model is brought to life with lights, sounds, and even smells is incredible — it really feels like stepping back through centuries of Rye’s haunted history. I actually jumped a few times (in a good way!) and loved the mix of ghost stories and real witch craft history. The atmosphere was spooky but fun, and the volunteers were so welcoming and knowledgeable. If you’re visiting Rye, don’t miss this — it’s the perfect mix of chills, charm, and local legend.”
Did you know?
The last recorded witch trial in Rye tells of a woman accused of turning into a dog and floating into a man’s bedroom. To prove her guilt, she was bound hand‑to‑foot and thrown into the river; a so‑called “witch‑dunking” test.
When she survived the ordeal, it was taken as proof of witchcraft, and legend says she was later led through Deadman’s Lane to her execution.
