Ticket Terms, Entry Terms & Refund Policy

Ticket Rules

  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ at all times.

  • Story of Rye tickets are valid for one standard showing within 14 days of purchase, subject to availability—we may cancel due to groups but will fit you into the next available showing. All other shows (Rye After Dark, Rye’s Story: WWII, Smugglers Christmas) and Walking Tours are for specified time slots only; tickets are non-transferable and non-resalable.

  • Showtimes for the week are listed at ryeheritage.co.uk/shows-tours/.

  • Rye Heritage Centre (RHC) reserves the right to refuse entry or remove guests without refund for safety or behavioural reasons.

  • Refunds on pre-booked tickets are at the Manager’s discretion in exceptional circumstances only (e.g., full closure); no refunds if admission is refused under these terms.

  • Story of Rye shows run every 30 minutes; last show starts 25 minutes before closing. Expect waits during busy periods. Late entry is not permitted to any show or tour—arrive in good time before the scheduled performance. Walking Tours are subject to change or cancellation due to weather.

  • Shows may use fog, smells, loud noises, special effects, and flashing lights, which may not be suitable for those sensitive to such effects.

Definitions

  • Attraction: Rye Heritage Centre, Strand Quay, The Old Sail Loft, Rye TN31 7AY.

  • RHC/We/Us: Rye Heritage Centre CIO (Charity, registered 1187978) in England and Wales.

  • Ticket: Valid entry to Story of Rye (flexible, availability-based), Rye After Dark, Rye’s Story: WWII, Smugglers Christmas (fixed times), or Walking Tours (fixed times, weather-dependent), bought via ryeheritage.co.uk, on-site, or authorised sellers.

By buying or using a Ticket, you agree to these conditions. A contract forms on booking confirmation, governed by English law.

Guest Safety & Behaviour

Guests must follow RHC staff instructions, act safely, and consider personal medical needs. RHC may close areas for safety, weather, or events without notice; alternative tickets may be offered for full closures.

RHC may refuse entry, ban, or remove (without refund) anyone who:

  • Behaves aggressively, abusively, or disruptively en route or on-site.

  • Enters restricted areas or damages property.

  • Holds invalid tickets or buys from touts.

  • Displays offensive signs/clothing.

  • Done not give with due consideration to others, including behaviour.

  • Does not remain seated throughout the performances.
    Entire groups may be affected if one member breaches rules.

Ticket Validity & Purchases

RHC is private property. Tickets must be from official sources; unauthorised sales void them. Retain tickets for inspection; no re-entry without staff approval.

Online bookings require valid email; we may contact you via email/SMS. Buyers accept terms for their group. Check operating hours at ryeheritage.co.uk; special events may need separate tickets.

Age & Supervision

No unaccompanied under-16s. RHC may adjust restrictions for safety.

Behaviour & Dress

No excessive noise, smoking (including vapes), or annoyance. Wear top/shoes; indecent/offensive clothing leads to refusal/removal without refund.

No alcohol (unless permitted), illegal drugs, or legal highs; offenders refused/removed without refund.

No photos or videos during any show.

Security & Liability

CCTV operates; no full coverage guarantee. Property left at own risk—avoid valuables. RHC accepts no liability for losses from breaches or uncontrollable events, except statutory rights.

Well-behaved dogs on short leads are permitted only in Story of Rye; dogs are not allowed in other shows or tours. Assistance animals allowed elsewhere; other pets prohibited.

Strobe/flashing lights may feature—age restrictions possible.

Photography & Recordings

Private photos/videos permitted outside shows unless prohibited. No commercial use. RHC may request deletion if offensive/privacy-infringing. Get permission for people shots. RHC may film guests for promotion; you consent on entry.

Changes & Closures

RHC may alter hours, attractions, or Entry Conditions without notice. Walking Tours may change or cancel due to weather. For pre-purchased tickets during full closures, alternative dates offered where possible—no cash refunds unless legally required.
