A trip to Rye is not complete without a visit to the Rye Heritage Centre where you can find all you need to know to make your time in Rye truly enjoyable.

Located just off the A259 along the Quay. We recommend parking at Gibbet Marsh car park (///penny.apart.began) ]which is a short walk following the footpath by the river.

If you are arriving by train look for our displays and leaflets in the booking hall.

Entry to the centre and shop is free – tickets for the “Story of Rye” sound and light show** are paid per show – see prices below.

To play the Vintage Penny Arcade machines you can purchase 7 old pennies for £1 via the change machine, change can be given at the retail counter.

A discount is available for groups of 10 or more. 

A local resident’s discount is also available – please email info@ryeheritage.co.uk for more information.

(**Please be aware that children aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult).

If you are not able to visit for your pre-booked ticket we are not able to offer refunds.

In busy times, you may have to wait for the next available showing, normally less than 30 minutes.

The last show-off of the day is normally 25 minutes before the centre closes.

Due to flashing light sequences the show may not be suitable for all and children under 5 may find some of the images disturbing – if you are unsure please ask a member of the team.

Access

Rye Heritage Centre welcomes all for a memorable experience. The ground floor which houses the shop, vintage penny arcade and Town Model sound and light show is wheelchair friendly with level access.

The upper floor is currently only accessible via a wide staircase but we are actively seeking funding to install a lift

We are soon to be adding subtitles and a hearing loop to our show experience. Please enquire for more information.
