Secret Sussex – BBC Podcast

We’re delighted to share that we’ve appeared on a BBC podcast, where we talked about the history of the town model and its place in the story of Rye.

The episode, “The Sussex town that went on tour,” explores how a hand-carved replica of Rye became an unexpected star of national exhibitions, before falling into obscurity and later being rediscovered. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the craftsmanship, heritage, and public fascination behind the model, and to help bring its story to a wider audience.

For us, the town model is more than just a remarkable piece of local history. It is a vivid reminder of the town’s past, the skill of the people who created and preserved it, and the role it continues to play in connecting visitors with Rye’s heritage.

We’re very proud to have been included in the conversation and grateful to the BBC team for the chance to share this story.
